Amy Hostetler
PK-12 Principal
My name is Amy Hostetler, and I am excited to be joining Creek Valley Public Schools for the upcoming school year!
Background:
I am originally from Loup City, Nebraska. I am the youngest of five children in my family, and three of us are educators. My family lives across Nebraska and my twin brother lives in Tampa, Florida. My husband, Joe, and I dated in high school and graduated together from Loup City.
We have two grown daughters, Jamie and McKenzie. Jamie is married with two children, and she and her family live in Hildreth. She works as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, and McKenzie works at a daycare in Lincoln. My husband is employed by a local farming operation as a full-time truck driver. We have two grandsons, Bennett, age two and Emmett, age nine months. We enjoy Facetiming with them on a regular basis. In our spare time, you can generally find us entertaining our Boston Terrier named Penny or enjoying the outdoors on the golf course.
Education:
After attending Chadron State College for one year, I transferred to the University of Nebraska at Kearney where I graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in English/Speech-Theatre, 7-12, in 1995. My first teaching experience was in Greeley, Nebraska, where I taught English/Speech-Theatre, grades 7-12 for three years. I then changed schools to shorten my commute as my children were small, and I taught for one year at Ansley, Nebraska. In the fall of 2000, I began teaching at my alma mater, Loup City, where I taught 21 of my 25 years teaching English/Speech-Theatre, primarily to grades 9-12.
During my teaching career at Loup City, I returned to school and began working on my graduate programs. Over the course of five years, I earned two Masters of Education degrees: Curriculum & Instruction in 2010 and Educational Leadership in 2012, Principal, 7-12. Shortly after, I added the PK-6 endorsement to my Principal certificate.
Achievements:
My biggest accomplishment and what I am most proud of and known for would be my work in the fine arts community in Nebraska. I am on the executive board of the NSCTA (Nebraska Speech Communication Theatre Association) and have been a presenter for NSAA Speech and Play Production workshops. My teams have earned much recognition as they have made multiple appearances at the state tournaments earning high honors.
Goals & Aspirations:
It would be my goal and aspiration to use my talents in helping others be the best that they can be in whatever role they hold whether it be student, teacher, or any stakeholder within the district.
I enjoy seeing technology and its uses in the classroom to enhance student engagement. I am a strong believer in setting achievable goals and attaining them and my strengths lie within communication and organization.
I believe that every individual has a hidden talent. Unlocking those talents and guiding individuals to grow is rewarding to me. Every student matters and every decision should support what is best for students.
I am very excited to embark on this journey! I have already enjoyed my visits and am ready to get to know everyone better and work together for a common goal.
